Want to make your channel better than ever? Read on
Running a YouTube channel is hard, I’ll be the first to admit it. It’s not an easy journey or challenge, especially if you want to ‘make it’. If you want to get that massive audience, who will religiously follow your every move then there’s a lot of work to be done. This has been my dream for a long time, easily 5 years which is just under 1/3rd of my life. One day, I decided to just go for it and start to make content and this is top 5 ways in which you can improve your channel; based on my previous experiences.
If you haven’t already check out my video on how to improve your YouTube channel on my channel here.
1 — Consistency
Uploading is the first step to becoming a YouTuber but if you want to become a big YouTuber then you better get in the habit of uploading to a schedule: same time, same days and same place. As annoying as it is, in the 21st-century people are lazy and don’t want to look for things. So, put it where they know when and where to find it otherwise they won’t bother and you’ll lose views. Doing this, let’s the audience know when to check for additional content so they don’t have to waste time and it means they can get excited about it.
2 — Quality beats Quantity within reason
I have a simple question for you, would you rather have 3 mediocre videos or 1 great video which everyone gets excited by and enjoys watching. I think I know the answer, the 1 great video. Now, all of this depends on the time frame we are implementing here. If this is over a week great! People normally don’t mind waiting a week for a video which they know will be good and they’ll enjoy spending their time watching. But, if we’re on about a month. It might be better to opt for the 3 mediocre videos, this is so people don’t forget about your channel and the content you create. Simply, strive for the highest quality you can but make sure to still upload regularly.
3 — Feedback
To improve your content, you must get feedback from people. This is true for all walks of life if you’re a video producer, a student, a sportsperson or an actor. These areas, people can give you feedback on how you do it and you can use it to improve for the future. There are hundreds of thousands of people at any one time creating content and wanting to help others, let them critique your work and listen to them. If you want me to critique your work send it to firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll be sure to get back to you as soon as I can. Simply, ask your audience to leave feedback in the comments, on twitter, by email or any other way you can think of then actually read them and reply to them! This leads me nicely to number 4…
4 — Social Media
Social media is the biggest asset of any creator in the modern day! You can share, comment on and appreciate others work without needing to go to see it in person or wait for the post. Everything is instant and free! So, get your work on there! Get advertising and pushing your work now! Go create a blog and write about your work! These helps spread the word and before you know it your audience is growing! Once people find your work and if they like it (which I’m sure they will) then they will do all the advertising for you by sharing it with their friends.
5 — Interact with your audience
This very closely relates to number 4. Once you have an audience, it may be a million, a thousand or even one. But once you have that audience; make sure you interact with them! If they comment, you reply to it! Simple as that really. This will help build trust between you and the audience so they don’t feel like they’re being ignored or used. This will normally end up in them being more likely to share your work with friends and family. Which guess what? It builds your audience and helps spread the word. Make sure to interact with everyone.
